About the Artist

Taylor Hudson (she/her) started her tattoo journey in 2010, where she began her apprenticeship while working at a vintage retail store that also did piercings and tattoos. Now over a decade later, she co-owns a private shop with her three friends called Hemlock Tattoo in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Hemlock Tattoo is a shop dedicated to providing a consent based and trauma informed practice, opened in the summer of 2020.

Taylor focuses mainly on full colour work, in a style that can be best described as ‘illustrative stylized realism’ with a dash of ‘neo-traditional’ elements. With a heavy emphasis on nature, animals and pets, fantasy/medieval, and some nods to pop culture, Taylor loves to pull inspiration from these subjects and translates them to her tattoos.

During the whole process from start to finish, Taylor strives to make her clients feel as welcomed and comfortable as possible. Although she can be a bit quiet while shes actively tattooing, Taylor is always up for conversation, especially when she’s able to nerd out about games or anime with her clients.

Outside of tattooing, Taylor enjoys spending time with her partner and two cats, playing video games, watching anime or cool TV shows, crafting (right now it’s needle felting!), cosplaying, or frolicking out in the wilderness. She is also very intrigued by the world of the paranormal, so if you ever have a good ghost story to share she would love to hear it during a tattoo appointment!

Oh, and in case you’re curious and are wondering ‘why Elven Hands?’. Taylor has small hands and a gentle touch when tattooing, and she likes Elves of the fantasy variety!
